The Omega Bunnies

"Activate the Omega 13." - Commander Peter Quincy Taggart (Galaxy Quest)

Everytime I hear the word omega I always think of Galaxy Quest. So today during lecture when the professor mentioned the Omega Network architecture the first thing that came to mid was : "Never give up. Never surrender." Of course in this same lecture we also talked about Ackermann's Function - so it was somewhat fitting if you think about it. (If you don't get the connect, drop me a comment and I will explain or feel free to add a comment of what you think the connection is between the two topics).

News because it was there:

"Carbon nanotube TV trials on horizon"

Check it out: 2006 SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards

"Google, Nike team up to create online football arena"

In the words of Eeyore: "Thanks for noticing me..."
(Read more about Winnie-the-Pooh on Wikipedia. By the way as a kid I use to watch Welcome to Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus all the time. Of course, this has absolutely nothing to do with any other part of my blog...but I am telling you anyway.

So, what is the connection?

Ackermann function because of its high growth rate is often used as a benchmark for compiler optimization. The "Never give up. Never surrender." from Galexy Quest to me just seems fitting. It is the whole keep trying. I guess it really depends on how you look at the word benchmark. If you think of it as a goal or a point you want to reach - then "Never give up. Never surrender." seems like very good advice.

Of course, that connection might really only fit in my twisted and unbalanced mind...

Noooo.
Your mind is neither twisted, nor unbalanced. :)
