Completely Un-Random

It's fun filled Saturday afternoon. What I am doing? I am stuck inside doing large amounts of homework. Yep, thats right. It is even sunny outside (which is unusal for Michigan). OK, so it is not as bad as Seattle, but still - it rains a lot in MI.

Read this really funny thing some one wrote on the Apple Product Cycle. I read about it on MacBlog.org which I visit almost everyday. There is often a tidbit of interest information posted there. Speaking of sites I visit often - Google News. Did you know there is a Google Store? I bet those shirts are very popular! The Mars Rover one is pretty nifty.

Here are some of my favorite fun stores to go visit:

More favorites

Unfortunately, I have been extremely busy with class work - so I have been unable to update my blog. I have 2 more weeks of summer term and then I have a couple weeks off. I am highly looking forward to the break time. I am going to continue with listing a bunch of my favorite things. Hope you enjoy a link or two. I am focusing on computer related stuff today.

Google - the greatest little search engine on the planet. It really has changed the way people use the internet. It is easy, it is free, and it works well. What more could you ask?

Apple - yes I am a Apple product user. I would like to point out that I also own a PC and use it on a regular basis. Recently, I have been using my mac a lot more. Why? It is not because I have anything against Windows or Microsoft. It is simply because the mac returns from sleep mode faster and has a cool glowing logo on the back. Oh and because it seems to bug people.

iTunes - this is a music program must have for anyone who plays music on their computer. It is simple to move music to my iPod and the music store is really interesting. The free download of the week is really cool. It has so many great features - I like creating play lists easily and it keeping track of the songs I play the most. So if you have not - go download it and try it out. Hey, it comes for both windows and mac - so you don't have an excuse.

Stephany's Favorite Stuff

I have many favorite foods and favorite resturants.

One of my favorite resturants is
Pizza House. Of course I am sure from the name you can guess that one of my favorite foods is pizza. I am a geek so eating pizza on a regular bases is a requirement. Anyway, Pizza House is located in downtown Ann Arbor. It is one of the biggest things I miss from not going to school in Ann Arbor anymore.

I have three current favorite TV shows Stargate SG-1, Enterprise, and West Wing. I know it is an odd list - two sci-fi shows and one drama. West Wing is a really good show. Some of the issues presented in the show really make you stop and think. I highly respect any show that has that kind of effect on me. Enterprise also presents current events - but in a sci-fi setting. This is a very affective method becuase it lets you walk in the other persons shoes. Stargate SG-1 is a wonderful show that recently started another season. I highly recommend you watch it on Friday nights.

I will continue tomorrow with my favorite stuff list. Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Quandary Making - Harder than you might think...

I am currently taking a class in which we need to make a quandary. If you ever need to make one I highly recommend this software. It is straight foward and easy to use. Plus, you can get a free trial. It is available in version 2 for windows and version 1 for macs. (Note: mac users things made with version 2 windows are not compatible with the version 1 for macs - I found this out the hard way).

Unfortunatly, the same is not true for the quandary itself. First there was decision-point tree that needed to be made. Then a story line. Each branch in the tree leads down a path and so forth. With 7 decision points this gives you a bunch of paths. To make a long story short - it gets complex fast.

It is a great education experience. I had no idea these things were so complex and difficult to make! I better go find myself a lot of diet pepsi and some chocolate covered peanuts.

Here are a few more links for you viewing pleasure:
Dave Barry's Column -- These are the best humor columns anywhere. The topics are off the wall and very funny.

J.K. Rowling's Site -- Harry Potter fan? Find out the latest here.

Count Your Sheep -- a webcomic I enjoy reading. It is about a girl, her mother, and their imaginary friend Ship. I highly recommend this for light reading and good humor. It is well drawn and cute.

Prof Quotes -- a site were people can post quotes of their professors or teachers. I have occationally seen some from professors I have taken from - which is really interesting. Check it out.

A Little about Me

I figure that it might be intereting to tell you a little about myself. So here it goes.

I am a grad student at Bowling Green State Univerisy in Ohio. I am working on my masters in computer science. I did my undergrad at University of Michigan. If you are interested in a nifty GBA game I worked on during my senior year check it out here. The project was called CODENAME: Monkey-Bots. It was a very fun project to work on and very different. You do not get many chances to work on projects like this one.

I have decided to include some of my favorite links. I figured this is a good way to get to know me. Enjoy the links.

First Post

I really like blogs and wanted to start one of my own. I saw this service on Google and decided to give it a shot. So Steph's Blog is born. I have noticed recently that I also like to write - so this seemed like a great idea. Ever since I took a class in web content and design were I had to keep a blog I found out how great they are. However, I wanted something easy and simple to maintain. This looks like it just might be a great solution. I decided to take a chance.

The first blog is always the most difficult to write I think because you don't know exactly what you are going to do with the blog. I read several other peoples blogs and enjoy them very much. So why not have my own again? I hope you visit again. Maybe next time the blog will be more interesting to read :-)
